Where do I begin with trying to explain this AMAZING experience I have had with Tanya Pennington? About a year and a half ago I found myself uncomfortable in my skin and one of my friends was training with Tanya and was having amazing success and results with her. Two years prior I had the worse experience training from afar with another trainer that I was skeptical if I should give it another shot. All it took was a phone conversation and my thoughts changed immediately in regards to training with someone remotely. Tanya showed interest and asked questions to understand why I was wanting to train, what my results were as a goal, challenges I have with training and even asked questions about my life in general. She truly wanted to understand my body and get in tuned with it so that she could make this experience realistic and doable. My results were far beyond I have ever wanted and expected. So great that I have now become a competitor who took 1st place twice in a row and on my way to Nationals. It was her guidance that got me there, she gave me all the tools that I needed. From weekly conversations, emails back and forth every 2-3 days after reporting to her my daily journals (which were important for her to understand my body), and her welcoming openness that made me so comfortable to open up to her and vent about things in my life that were taking place was such a relief. Over time she became not only my trainer, but a counselor and today seems to be my life coach and dear friend. She always made me stop and think if what I was struggling with was mental or reality, and what options did I have to overcome them. When I hit a road block she made it possible for me to keep going. Through my training I have exceeded my goals, have become a stronger person, learned to be honest with myself and knows what sportsmanship is all about. I can’t say enough about my experience with Tanya Pennington, I truly cannot, but what I will say is that she has truly helped me see another side to myself that I never knew I had. It’s because of her: patience, understanding, honest and true interest in me and my goals and being disciplined with herself to work with me that I have succeeded and reached my goals. Tanya has the tools, and loves what she does and that is why anyone who works with her will have this same experience that I have had and will continue to have. She will always be ahead of everyone else, offer new ideas and ways to challenge yourself and continue to meet your goals. And she will put that “fire” under you when you think you hit a weak moment to snap out of it and get back on track. That’s what she does, just like that -> Brings the HEAT! I’ve been in the fitness industry since 1998. I absolutely love ending my day with a great workout. By day I am a business professional working in Corporate America. In essence, the working day becomes quite stressful at times. My outlet for stress and long days has always been in the gym. In 98’ when I realized that I had a passion for the fitness industry, I knew that I wanted to become a fitness competitor. However, with the obstacles of being a full-time student, working 40+ hours a week, and attending to my job as a mommy, well the dream of stepping on staged, seemed just that a dream. This brings me to my journey with Tanya. After graduating college in 2004, I accepted a job working for Intel America’s, which relocated me to Folsom. I was quite happy when I was introduced to the Intel gym. I utilized the gym at Intel every day during my lunches. I was blessed to have met fitness competitor, Kacey, during this time. Kacey had already completed her first show, and was full of passion and drive to do another. It is because of Kacey, that I’ve had the opportunity to work with Tanya.. Tanya took me under wing and helped me with my diet, posing, and workouts. She evaluated my progress weekly, making adjustments where needed. It was an amazing experience being coached by someone in the industry that has passion and love for the sport. Tanya not only helped me pursue a long-time dream, she fine-tuned my body and gave me the confidence I needed, to walk on stage. My first competition was held in Contra Costa, number 91 baby. I walked off stage taking 6th place. One away from a trophy. I could not have asked for a better first-time experience than the one Tanya provided with me. She helped me all through my competition that day, oiling me, bikini biting me, and reminding me to eat my sweet potatoes. (Gotta love those sweet potatoes) To sum all this up; the fitness industry is a hard industry to be in. I do not know a single girl that likes the fact that her body is being evaluated by a panel of judges. However, with the right training, dieting, and coaching you really can transform your body into a piece of art. Tanya proved this to me, and I will be forever grateful for her wisdom, guidance, support and love as I pursued my dream. Thank you, Tanya! On the left I weighed close to 226 and eventually hit 236 by the end of November. On the right I weight 185 lbs. I have officially lost 51 lbs since December 1st. I couldn't have done this without the guidance of Tanya. I remember talking to Tanya in November and telling her I am not where I want to be weight wise and did not looked or felt at all. I was going to prep for a Figure Competition and although I am also a fitness professional I was looking for a coach to help me and keep me accountable. I did my research and found Tanya. Just a little testimony for the next keto seminar. I was forced to cut my diabetic medication in half in less than a week on keto. My blood sugar almost immediately dropped. Half the medication dose and my numbers are better than when I would take Metformin twice a day. Thank you for the knowledge.
Tanya, although the time we worked together was short, I can honestly say the knowledge I’ve gained from being coached by you is priceless and will last me a lifetime. I’ve worked out for the last fifteen years and was never really able to get the physique I desired. Primarily, this was all due to never focusing on the importance of nutrition. Working with you made me realize nutrition is just as important as hitting the gym, if not more. All it took was about three weeks to make me a believer in what you do. Once I received the nutrition plan you created for me I knew it was time to put in work. I remember thinking to myself, how is it possible to eat this much food and stay in shape. Literally, all I had to do was follow the nutritional plan, without deviating from it, and continue the same workout routine. When we started the nutritional plan, I was at a 9% body fat percentage. Three weeks later, I was at a 6% body fat percentage. This was all do to your expertise and guidance. I continue to follow the nutritional plan you crated for me and continue to focus on the importance of nutrition. I can honestly say that at the age of 35, I’m in the best shape of my life. Tanya! What kind of sorcery do you posess?! This is only day 5 and I feel amazing! I’ve had two CrossFit workouts in which I had so much energy throughout. I could give it my all. I beat my time! I feel great all day and am sleeping so good! Thank you! And my joint pain is soooooo much better, almost gone! And no antacids! Yay!
I had the opportunity to begin working with Tanya prior to participating in my second show last April in Fresno. She was very helpful with diet instructions and exercise suggestions. With these I was able to drop over 3 percent body fat in as many months. I went well prepared for the show and had a great time. She also coached me for the show this past September and was able to drop another 3 percent body fat. Again, well prepared for the show and had a great time once again. Hello, my name is Joaquin. I've spent the majority of my life being overweight and out of shape. Weighing in at 310 pounds my hobbies included overeating and being a volunteer craft beer tester... At the beginning of 2017 I was invited by a cousin to enter the Total Nutrition weight loss challenge. I had recently decided to make a drastic change after a back injury almost cost me my job. I never would have imagined that after four babies, gaining weight from 50-80 pounds each time, that I would confidently do a bikini competition. After being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor I needed something to keep me from spiraling into my old habits of depression binge eating. Tanya had more faith in me than I had in myself. With her help and support I slowly gained trust in the process and learned how to better fuel my body. Learning how to eat so many healthy meals, properly portioned, I began to feel better on the inside out. Emotionally and physically! I learned to not care that the scale didn’t move where I thought it should be but embracing my curves and new muscles slowly appearing. I finally got to my goal and the big competition was here. If it could go wrong, it happened to me! From my suit breaking to locking my keys in my car I thought I should throw in the towel. Tanya (and her amazing hubby Brett!) came to my rescue on more than one occasion. I couldn’t have made it without her in my corner. Pushing me to my best self. She is an amazing nutritionist, supplement specialist and coach.
I started training with Tanya in January of 2005 for my first figure competition. Being that this was my first competition I had TONS of questions which Tanya was always there to answer and ease my mind. She is so knowledgeable about exercise and nutrition plus she is a competitor herself so I felt extremely comfortable training with her. She was very consistant with changing my diets and work outs as I progressed and got closer to my goal. I was very happy with my results, I went from 22% body fat to 12% by the day of my show…I know I could not have done it with out the help of Tanya. I am currently training with her again for 3 shows at the end of this year and I can’t wait to see what we will do with my body this year! I am so thankful for meeting Tanya and traing with her, I have sent numberous people to her for general diet help and to get ready for a show.
